Jan Wasiewicz – PhD, DSc, associate professor in the Department of Art History and Philosophy in the Faculty of Art Education and Curatorial Studies of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan. His main interests lie in the presence of peasant experiences, history, and heritage in Polish collective and cultural memory. On this subject he has published several articles and two books: Pamięć – chłopi – bunt. Transdyscyplinarne badania nad chłopskim dziedzictwem. Historia pamięci pierwszego powstania ludowego na ziemiach polskich [Memory – Peasants – Revolt: Transdisciplinary Research on Peasant Heritage. History of the Memory of the First People’s Uprising in the Polish Lands] (2021) and Wóz Drzymałów pod szwedzkim
zaborem. Transdyscyplinarne badania pamięcioznawcze nad chłopskim dziedzictwem. Księgi wtóre [The Drzymałas’ Wagon under the Swedish Partition: Transdisciplinary Memory Studies on Peasant Heritage: Secondary Books] (2023), which won the Best Book in Polish Memory Studies Award (2024). A second area of interest for him is the problem of nihilism, about which he wrote the award-winning book Oblicza nicości. Z dziejów nihilizmu europejskiego w XIX wieku [Faces of Nothingness: A History of Nineteenth-Century European Nihilism] (2010).
