Author Biography
Marc Gopin – the Director of the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution (CRDC), and the James H. Laue Professor at the Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, at George Mason University, Arlington, Virginia, USA. Gopin has pioneered multimillion dollar projects at CRDC on religion and peacebuilding in the Israeli/Palestinian, Syrian, and Afghanistan conflicts, and consulted with numerous governmental agencies in the United States and Europe. Gopin has trained thousands of students worldwide in peacebuilding strategies for complex conflicts. His most recent research has focused on psychosocial and neuroscience aspects of peacebuilding, resulting in his most recent work, Compassionate Reasoning: Changing the Mind to Change the World (2021), which argues for a new compassion-based approach to rational peacebuilding and moral reasoning, with implications for mental health, physical health, and public health. Gopin has previously authored Healing the Heart of Conflict: Eight Crucial Steps to Making Peace with Yourself and with Others, which outlines eight steps in a human being’s journey of conflict healing. It is the basis of training methods that have been taught in countries around the world.
